I'm taking a little break from Batman: Arkham Asylum to write about a topic that I've rarely touched on: Boone. For those of you who skipped the "About Us" on the top of the page there, I live in the lovely mountain town of Boone, North Carolina. Boone is also the home of the Appalachian State Mountaineers, three-time National Champions in football, and breakers of the Big House. I'm proud to say I've lived here long enough to see what the team was like before the "Championship Experience" and after, and today Boone is as awesome as it has ever been.

We have several great parks here, including the Greenway Trail, Jimmy Smith Park and Rivers Park. Actually those last two are pretty lame, just check Youtube to find out why. Greenway, however, is an excellent resource that the public here uses frequently. More importantly, we have Grandfather Mountain, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Appalachian Trail very nearby, making it the perfect place to live for an outdoors man. If you want to see more pictures, just friend me on Facebook and I've got a huge gallery up there.

In addition to the natural resources around, the people of this little college town are simply the best. I have so many excellent friends up here, both old and young, that make living here a very easy decision. People like Ray Russell, of www.raysweather.com, who continue to inspire me to make more of myself. Those of you who don't know Ray, he went on a health kick this year, and has just finished his first half-marathon. It's an amazing story of perseverance and determination.

The computer side of Boone is also very fulfilling. We have a great network of doctors and hospitals here, which are all gearing up for the new Electronic Health Records (EHR) guidelines. We have an excellent technology sector at the University, including a group of developers who maintain phpWebSite. There are several technology providers here, ranging from the expert to the novice, who can help out with just about anything from web design to custom systems like mine. I also work with a fine group of people called Creekside Electronics, who can design just about any AV system you'd like, and install it with an attention to detail second to none. We're looking into a CableCard, Windows 7 system that will hopefully be ready by Christmas.

So there's a quick little tour of my currently favorite town in the US: Boone, NC. If you have any questions about this fine area, please feel free to drop a line in our forums, on Facebook, or email or call even.
