According to Daily Tech, the FTC has passed a rule requiring bloggers to disclose whether the product they are reviewing was paid for, or a gift. This is not quite the level of regulation that I hoped for, but it's a step in the right direction. Print journalists have long had laws in place that restrict the trade of gifts for good reviews, but online writers have had no such restrictions. In fact, I once had a blossoming website owner approach me and have the gaul to ask for a free PC in exchange for a good review on it, and tons of advertising. That's just morally wrong, and I refused. Thoughts?
